Good morning. This week we announced a plan to establish a Congressional Truth & Reconciliation Caucus if elected to represent the 24th Congressional District of Texas. On the Truth & Reconciliation page you can read Mark’s vision for why we need the caucus and how our nation can elevate the voices of those who have been historically marginalized in the US.
Setting up a Congressional Member Organization is a fairly simple process, and it’s one I’ve been through with colleagues on the Hill before. While most caucuses aren’t well-known outside of the dear colleague letters circulated among staff, it’s possible to create a platform with wider buy-in from stakeholders as envisioned here. As Independents, creating the caucus is one way we can immediately begin building a nonpartisan coalition and start a much-needed national conversation to reconcile with the full truth of our nation’s history.
PS–If you’d like to support the campaign, grab a Bauer for Congress tee. They fit great and they’re as comfortable as those ones from J.Crew that you bought three of because they were that perfect.
